Symphony of the Seas Inaugural Sailings – What to expect

Royal Caribbean surprised the cruise industry last year by announcing that Symphony of the Seas would arrive ahead of schedule. The worlds largest cruise liner will now debut on March 31st for a 5 night “pre-inaugural” cruise, followed by two Western Mediterranean cruises on the 7th and 14th of april. The original inaugural cruise was scheduled for April 21st.

Passengers that have booked on the new dates may be wondering what they can expect from the sailings. We have the answers below…

Will the ship be finished?

Yes, for the most part. An onboard team will still be completing final touches but the ship will look and feel fully functional.

What should I expect on the MArch 31st pre-opening sailing?

You will be the first to experience all that Symphony of the Seas has to offer. Expect to enjoy behind the scenes moments and first glimpses of the ship, restaurants, neighbourhoods and entertainment.

Dining

The majority of dining venues will be open however there is a chance some may be still receiving those final touches. Hooked Seafood will be offering a special tasting menu.

Entertainment

Headline show “Hairspray” will be showing an exclusive final full dress rehearsal. An additional “musical extravaganza” called “Bravo Broadway! – Broadway’s biggest hits” will also be shown as an alternative to “Flight” which will not be available until later in the year. The AquaTheatre will offer a showcase called “The AquaNation” as an alternative to HiRO which will be shown on later cruises. Ice show “1977” will be running in Studio B and illusionist “Hector is Magic” will be making a special guest appearance.

What about the April 7th & 14th new inaugural sailings?

You should expect the ship to have some final on-going work under completion but all venues will now be open.

All dining venues will be open. Hooked Seafood will be offering a special tasting menu for these sailings.
