Welcome to CruiseOholics
Thank you for visiting our blog. We created CruiseOholics because well…the name says it all, ‘for the love of cruising! First we better introduce ourselves, I’m Matt and he’s Damon or as we have become known to our friends, you guessed it… “Matt Damon”!
Matt: My first cruise was all the way back in 1998 on a little ship called Victoria, part of the then three ship P&O Cruises fleet. At just shy of 29,000 tonnes and under 800 passenger, she was tiny by today’s standards. The cruise took us from Gibraltar across the Atlantic to the Caribbean…on the tail end of a force 9 hurricane! Clearly that didn’t us off as year after year the family booked cruises on various ships in the P&O fleet.
We stuck to P&O through the 2000’s until 2009 when we gave Royal Caribbean a go. How did Royal Caribbean compare? Well, they are our number one choice of cruise line.
What about Damon? Well in 2013 I took him on his first cruise…much his protests; “why would I want to be stuck on a ship for a week floating around the Med?” After one week he soon changed his mind – one cruise down and now we book every year. Our cruise travels have taken us all around the world, from South and Central America, across the West Indies, into New York city and across the Mediterranean – we are convinced it is the best way to see the world. We have travelled (so far) on P&O Cruises, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line with many more to come (we hope!) in the future.
This year we will be checking out the worlds largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, exploring the Canaries on Navigator of the Seas and relaxing in the Greek Isle on Rhapsody of Seas. Be sure to check back here to see updates from our travels.
We realised a lot of people share our passion, the “cruise bug” is contagious after all (not to be mistaken with another kind of bug you can get on a cruise!) so we created this blog – our own place to share our love of cruising with the like-minded.
Thanks again for stopping by, please comment, share and follow us on social media,
– Matt Damon.
